Tares look like a small brown pea and they are predominantly used for roach fishing. However, they make a very good carp and tench bait, fished either in conjunction with Hemp Seed or on their own. They are also one of the best baits available for barbel fishing, and many barbel specialists rate them above Hemp or sweetcorn. Also known as Vetches.

Tares take on flavour well and a few drops of your favourite flavour or essential oil will only add to their drawing power.

If you need a particle that the birdlife aren’t going to spot then this could be the one as it is dark in colour when prepared.
Tares (Vetches) – Soak for 24 hours and then boil for 25 mins.
